Week 5

Tuesday: I struggled today motivating my group. They were pretty tired and basic language production was difficult. I did a lot of scaffolding for the activities. While we were summarizing the instruction for making a Easter bunny cake from a video, the students took good notes. But when they worked together to form a comprehensive instruction guide, they struggled to speak while working together to create one instruction set. I'm not sure what they were thinking but my guess would be that perhaps they felt they completed the assignment with their notes. Once it came time to working together for a complete instruction set, they failed to mention what they wrote in their notes. They seemed to barely make a complete sentence. I had them try to focus on verbal phrases instead of just explaining what they saw in the video. Their notes showed they used verbal phrases.
